It is important to us that all of the money we raise goes to help families right here is the Walla Walla Valley.

Here you can see some of the projects we have been working on.
Autism Awareness:
  • Written, printed and distributed ASD pamphlets in the community
  • Written ASD awareness cards and made them available to individuals and families both in print and on-line
  • Held the Autism Awareness Carnival
  • Participated in the 4th of July in the Park, running two booths, ditributing information and reaching out to the community
  • Maintain an ASD website providing information and resources
  • Working with the County Health Department on the Autism Mapping Project
  • Writing a monthly column on ASDs in the Union Bulletin

Parent Support:
  • Holding monthly meetings locally to support parents
  • Looking to expand by offering web connections to meetings so parents can attend via the internet
Technology lending library, available for the public to borrow are:
  • Books - a wide variety on many subjects
  • Visual timers - 2 different types
  • Augmentive communication devices

These items are available to lend to families for a 2 month period of time.  During this time, the family should evaluate the item they have borrowed and determine if it is helpful and something they should purchase for their child.  If the family finds the item helpful but can not afford to purchase one, they can apply for assistance, EWASDA may be able to help.

Helping local autism programs:

EWASDA has funded a swimming program for the Walla Walla elementary Autism Spectrum Program (WWASP) for two years now.  This program allows these children to ride public transportation to the YMCA weekly and swim.  Multiple functional living skills as well as sensory integration objectives are met with this program that is open to other students in Walla Walla Public Schools.
