Early signs of ASD
The following publications are very helpful to parents, educators and community members.  They do a good job of outlining ASDs as well as appropriate interventions, available resources and much more useful information.  Although none of these publications were produced by us (references sited) we hardily recommend them.

Autism Guidebook for Washington State, A Resourse for Individuals, Families and ProfessionalsJuly 21, 2008.  Autism Task Force.  This is a comprehensive guidebook over 200 pages long containing information for individuals from birth through adulthood.  Not only is education covered, so are health related issues, community involvement, sexual issues, vocational opportunities and many other subjects.  Worth much more than the ink and paper it takes to print it.  Be patient, it is a large document and may take some time to download.

The Puzzle of Autism.  National Education Association, 2006.  Although this was written with educators specifically in mind.  It is a shorter, around 40 page document, that is still quite useful for everyone who is interested in providing the best education for individuals affected by autism.  Parents will find it empowering having this information in hand when talking to teachers and professionals about the programming their child is receiving.

The Educational Aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Special Education, Office of Superintendent of Instruction, revised 2008.  This publication is written specifically by Washington State for Washington State.  It includes strategies for parents, early interventions, information about IFSPs and IEPs as well as other important information about the kind of education children affected by autism should receive.  This is another empowering publication for parents and professionals.
